Galway-born dual-qualified striker, Ollie Young from Newport, a former PJSS Elite player, was on trial at Swansea City and Cardiff City academies during the 2022/23 season, scoring goals against Cat 1 opponents Leicester City and Liverpool. He was invited and participated in trials in the summer of 2023 at Stockport County and Cheltenham Town.

He signed for Cymru Premier League senior side, Pontypridd United in September 2023, and has already featured in the league, one of the youngest ever, at 16 years of age.
